Frequently Asked Questions
Below are some of the common questions about the Early Vision Online service.  We've tried to keep this section as short as possible because we want the site as user friendly as possible, however if you have a question that isn't answered below please don't hesitate to contact us.

NOTE: if your question is about something within the application please refer to the FAQ section on the Pinboard.

I'd like to sign up for a trial but I'm not your average setting and not on your standard pricing list, can I still get a trial?
We spent years making these resources and really want as many people to use it as possible so just give us a call and we'll have a chat.

My trial has expired but I need a little bit more time, can I extend it?
We know how busy it can be working with young children so this won't be a problem. Just give us a call and let us know who you are and how much more time you think you'll need.

I've lost my log-in details, what can I do?
Little Bo Beep lost her sheep, but if we'd been there we would have given her a hand.  All you need to do is go to the 'forgot my password' page and we'll re-send them.

Is my internet connection going to be fast enough?

We would recommend a minimum internet connection speed of 2.5Mbs, however if your connection is less than this you just need to be patient as the videos will still play but you will need to let them buffer.  Your best bet is to take the trial and see how you get on.
To test your internet speed your can try a site like or do a web search for similar services.

Do I need any special software to run Early Vision Online?
The main application requires Flash to run.  If your not a tech-head don't panic, you've probably already got the software installed as it's really common, and if not your browser will usually prompt you and give you a download link when you open the site.  If you do have any problems you can always download it from the Adobe site, click here.

Can I just leave children to watch the videos without any adult input?
Not really, the videos have been designed as a teaching tool.  Narration has been purposefully limited: we believe it should be down to the practitioner to pause, rewind, and lead the class at a pace appropriate to their learners.  There will also be lots of questions from your children about what they have seen this will also give you a chance to reiterate those elements of key interest to the individual learners.

Ideally, teachers will have a look through the accompanying digital handbooks before showing the video to the class - with film sequence details, key vocabulary and the key roles and routines to watch out for, this is the best way to maximise the potential from each video.

Can I print off and use the signs, notices and writing frames to use within my setting?
Of course! We'd love you to use all the materials provided, that's what they are here for!  Print them, use them, and re-use them as many times as you'd like. We only ask that you do not distribute them outside your setting, or illegally copy them and make them available for anyone other than Early Vision Online subscribers.

Can I copy and distribute the photos?
You may print them for use within your own setting only.  Early Vision Ltd owns the copywrite on every photograph and they cannot be reproduced or distributed without written permission. Please send formal written requests to Early Vision Ltd, Oak House, Brampton Abbotts, Ross on Wye, Herefordshire, HR9 7JD.

Is the photo bank a 'safe' search facility?
Absolutely - our photo bank is built into the virtual learning environment - it does not link onto any other site and we have personally taken and vetted every shot.
